Narayana Oil is an Ayurvedic oil (Thailam). It is used in the treatment of many neuro- muscular and skeleto-muscular conditions, such as arthritis, neuralgia etc. It is one of the most widely used Ayurvedic oils. It is used both for oral administration and external application.

“Valiya” is a word from the Malayalam language (spoken in Kerala, South India), which means “great / big”.

The equivalent word in Hindi and Sanskrit is “Maha”, which also means “great / big”.

Therefore, Valiya Narayana Tailam and Maha Narayana Tailam refer to the same Ayurvedic oil, known in English as “Great / Big Narayana Oil”.

Some Ayurvedic manufacturers follow Kerala naming conventions and use “Valiya,” while others use the more commonly recognized “Maha.” However, the formulation remain the same.

• It is useful to relieve aches and pains due to travelling.

• Dose for oral intake is – 5 – 20 drops once or twice a day, before food, with warm water or warm milk.
• This oil is used for massage for ladies, after delivery, to improve body strength.
• It is also used as massage oil for babies.
