Bael Tablets (Aegle marmelos)

Bael - Aegle marmelos herb is used in diarrhea, dysentery and cholera because of its digestive and carminative properties. It is said to cure without creating any tendency to constipation. It has been used very widely for thousands of years in India. It also helps in the healing of ulcerated intestinal surfaces.

Aegle Marmelos: bilva is small throny citrus tree is sacred to the deities Lakshmi and Shiva. Its root controls vata, its leaves are used as poultices in inflammations and gangrene; its leaf juice controls diabetes and can ameliorate both colds and fevers. The fruit is one of the few used in Ayurveda in an immature state; it is hot, unctuous, intense, stimulates digestion and cures vata and kapha. It is made into a medicinal jam that works wonders in acute or chronic diarrhoea, especially where there is alternating diarrhoea and constipation; in malabsorption syndromes like sprue; and in ulceration of the intestines. The ripe fruit, which is heavy for digestion and tends to disturb the doshas, is laxative when fresh; it is usually made into a cooling astringent sherbet for the hot season. Bilva oil is used as ear-drops to treat deafness.
