Sanskrit word “Dashamoola” denotes, dasha – meaning ten and moola meaning roots. Ayurvedic scriptures quote the combination of the roots of ten plants to be beneficial to alleviate all three doshas, especially vata. Out of ten, the five roots are of the large trees, hence named “Brihad panchamoola” and five roots of shrubs are called “Laghu panchamoola”. The former alleviate vata and digest ama (toxins). Dashamularishta is benevolent in ailments like fever, asthma, cough, oedema, flatulence, distaste, low agni and vata diseases. Dashamoolarishta is the best adjuvant in treating spondylosis and joint disorders. |
