Sanskrit word “Dashamoola” denotes, dasha – meaning ten and moola meaning roots. Ayurvedic scriptures quote the combination of the roots of ten plants to be beneficial to alleviate all three doshas, especially vata. Out of ten, the five roots are of the large trees, hence named “Brihad panchamoola” and five roots of shrubs are called “Laghu panchamoola”. The former alleviate vata and digest ama (toxins). Dashamularishta is benevolent in ailments like fever, asthma, cough, oedema, flatulence, distaste, low agni and vata diseases. Dashamoolarishta is the best adjuvant in treating spondylosis and joint disorders. |

Bala is highly praised as a brihmhana (a bulk promoting herb), balya (a tonic), prajasthapana (promoting reproduction), rasayana (rejuvenative to muscle tissue) and vata samshamana (pacifies the vata dosha). Bala is sweet in taste and has a post digestive effect. Bala is extremely beneficial in vata diseases associated with or due to wasting. It enhances the bulk and rejuvenates the muscle tissue and pacifies vata dosha. Other ingredients like Ashwagandha, Kshirakakoli, Eranda, Prasarini, Gokshura and Rasna are potent alleviators of vata. Hence, Balarishita is a great panacea for muscle wasting diseases, tremors, debility, vertigo, insomnia etc which originate due to aggravation of vata dosha. |
